Sports Week at Chitkara International School
Chitkara International School celebrated the Sports Week from 8th February, 2011 to 12th February, 2011. All the students from Nestling to Grade 6 took part in different races and field events. On 8th February, 2011 (Tuesday) the tiny tots of the school participated in the races. Starting with a very interesting race for the students of Nestling was the ‘Crawl Race’. The next race for the students of Fledgling was the ‘Balloon Pop Race’ in which the students had to run from the starting line towards the other end where the balloons were placed on a chair. The students had to run towards the chair, sit on the chair, pop the balloon and then run back again. Moving on the next race was the ‘Frog Jump Race’ in which the students of Cygnets participated. Overall, the students of kindergarten stole the day.


On 9th February, 2011 (Wednesday) Grade 1 participated in the ‘Three Legged Race’ and Grade 2 in the ‘Sack Race’. On 10th February, 2011 (Thursday) Grade 3 had the ‘Obstacle Race’ and Grade 4 participated in a field event i.e. ‘Long Jump’ and ‘Shuttle Race’. On 11th February, 2011 (Friday) Grade 5 participated in a field event ‘Long Jump’ and ‘Zigzag Race’. On 12th February, 2011 (Saturday) the last day of the sports week Grade 6 had field races ‘Long Jump’ and the ‘Hurdle Race’. The day concluded with an Inter House ‘Relay Race’ in which four students from each house participated.

All the winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) were awarded medals from Dr. (Mrs.) Madhu Chitkara, Chairperson Chitkara International School and Mrs. Niyati Chitkara, Principal Chitkara International School. Mrs. Niyati Chitkara congratulated the students and said that it was important for a student to keep in mind that winning was not everything, winning with fair play and sportsmanship was important. Games and sports bind people and ease tension. They teach us to be regimental and diligent. Overall, it was a week full of energy and enthusiasm.
