CIS Celebrates Republic Day
Republic Day is India`s Great National Festival. It is celebrated every year on January 26, in New Delhi with great pomp and pageant and in capitals of the States, as well as at other headquarters and important places with patriotic fervor. Republic Day reminds us of the fulfillment of the pledge that was made on the midnight of Independence as a "tryst with destiny". It is future-oriented, a vision of India that we nourish, an acceptance of responsibility and making of promises as well as recapitulation of achievements. The act of framing the Constitution puts a spotlight on B.R. Ambedkar whose indefatigable labour and sharp insights helped the preparation of the document.
Chitkara International School also celebrated Republic Day on Tuesday, 25th January 2011.The day began with a speech on Republic Day by the students. They also sang patriotic songs which took us back in time. The students had various activities for different classes. The kindergarten students made tri coloured bands which included the three colours of our National Flag. Grade 1 and 2 students had a painting competition in school with the theme Republic Day. The students of grade 3 had a speaking competition in which they had to speak about the achievements of their country. Grade 4 students had an Extempore where the students were given different topics (related to Republic Day) on the spot and they were given a minute to think and then speak. The students of grade 5 had a Group Discussion.
The students of grade 6 were given a very interesting task and they named it as “Interviewing the neighbour”. The students visited the neighbourhood and took their opinion on the Influences of Inflation on their daily routine. Students then presented their report and shared their views with the class.
Overall it was a fun filled day where the students gave a message of peace and humanity and a lot of learning happened with patriotic fervor in the air.
