Orientation day
The Orientation day at Chitkara International School was held for three days. Apart from just meeting the teachers the school had organized various workshops on these days. The orientation day for grade1 to grade 4 was on April 2, 2011 (Saturday), for grade 5 to grade 7 was on April 4, 2011(Monday) and for Kindergarten was on April 5, 2011(Tuesday). The parents attended different workshops like: - The Asset Workshop for parents of grade 3 onwards, a counseling session by the Child Psychologist Ms. Navleen Chahal where she discussed the attitude of the parents towards their child. Another workshop was given by the Indus Hospital on all three days in which a health programme (diet of the child) was organized for the parents. The parents also attended an ‘Accidental Insurance Policy Plan’ workshop wherein the parents were explained about the accidental insurance policy of the child and their benefits.
Another interesting workshop organized for the parents was on ‘School Cinema’ wherein short stories and movies were shown and behind every movie an activity for the students was there. The purpose of school cinema is to teach the students certain lessons through stories. This would also be incorporated as an activity for the students in class.
Training on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) was also organized for the parents wherein the new parents were familiarized with ERP and its functions and the queries of the existing parents were sorted out.
A presentation for the parents of grade 5 and a few new parents of grade 6 was on French and Punjabi given by the French and Punjabi teachers. As an option between these two languages the child with the help of their parents has to choose any one language and this presentation made their choice easier.
It was a day when the parents interacted with the teachers and planned the new session of the child for the start or continuation of a stimulating journey. Overall, it was a good start for the new session.
