On August 15, 1947, India attained freedom from the British Rule. Every year, this day is celebrated as the Independence Day in India. This national festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country.
The Independence Day of any country is a moment of pride and glory. On this special occasion, rich tributes are paid to the freedom fighters that sacrificed their lives and fought to free their motherland.
To mark this occasion Chitkara International School celebrated the Independence week from August 9 to August 13. The students had different competitions throughout the week. The kindergarten students had a Slogan Speaking Competition, A Tri Color Day and Fancy Dress Day. Students of grade 1 to grade 6 also had ‘A Slogan Speaking’ competition, a quiz competition on Independence Day, a speaking competition and the topics were ‘Contributions of Defense’ and ‘Independence Day’. The students of grade 5 had a poster making competition and grade 6 had a group discussion in which they were divided into 3 groups: - Anthem Group, Flag Group and Holiday Group. On August 13, 2010 (Friday) Independence Day celebrations were held.
The celebrations started with the School Anthem. Then the students enacted a play ‘Dreamers of Peace’ which depicted the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. The students also recited beautiful patriotic songs ‘Jai Jan Bharat’ and ‘Hum Bharat Maa Ke Bache Hai’. In the end the students showed a dance performance conveying a message that we owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile discovery could have been made.
