Earth Week
Earth Day is the name given to the annual observances that are intended to raise awareness about a wide range of environmental issues and problems, and to inspire people to take personal action to address them. One of the major problems which earth is facing is Global Warming, which is accompanied by high pollution levels, and these conditions further lead to the emergence of many new diseases. To mark this day the students of Chitkara International School celebrated the Earth Week from 25th to 29th April in which they performed different activities throughout the week. The students from Nestling to Grade 7 participated in various activities throughout the week. Children of Nestling made Cloud Puppets. During this activity, teachers explained the children about Air pollution. Children of Fledgling and Cygnets made an Earth Day Wreath and played Earth Day Sudoku. Students of Grade-1 made small pencil shaving boxes from used papers. Students of Grade-2 made small fairies from waste paper. Students of Grade 3 and 6 made dustbins from waste material for the school. Students of Grade- 4 wrote a pledge on a huge block made of wood. Grade-5 students painted earth on their T-shirts and Grade-7 students made a model on rainwater harvesting.

Another interesting workshop organized for the parents was on ‘School Cinema’ wherein short stories and movies were shown and behind every movie an activity for the students was there. The purpose of school cinema is to teach the students certain lessons through stories. This would also be incorporated as an activity for the students in class.

Training on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) was also organized for the parents wherein the new parents were familiarized with ERP and its functions and the queries of the existing parents were sorted out.

A presentation for the parents of grade 5 and a few new parents of grade 6 was on French and Punjabi given by the French and Punjabi teachers. As an option between these two languages the child with the help of their parents has to choose any one language and this presentation made their choice easier.

It was a day when the parents interacted with the teachers and planned the new session of the child for the start or continuation of a stimulating journey. Overall, it was a good start for the new session.
