Chaitanya’s School Health Program

“Starting early and starting right will ensure that your smile stays healthy and bright” Chitkara International School conducted a workshop for students in a tie up with Chaitanya Hospital which is a leading hospital of Chandigarh providing comprehensive, high quality and ethical medical care to citizens of the city beautiful especially in the field of woman and child health. A school health program was conducted in which the students were given knowledge about the dental care tips, eye care tips and healthy dietary habits.

The Dental Care tips were given by Dr. Jagat Bhushan in which he spoke about the right ways of brushing teeth. He also spoke that we should brush at least twice a day- in the morning after eating breakfast and just before bedtime. We should spend two minutes brushing- concentrating on the chewing surfaces and back teeth, where cavities often develop first. The doctor focused on how to get a sunshine smile which is only possible with the proper methods of brushing.

The Eye Care tips were given by Dr. Sujata Grover (Grover eye hospital, sec 35 chd) who believes that “Our eyes are the windows to the world. They account for almost 90% information that we gather about the world around us.” The doctor also focused that even if the child has no obvious eye problem he/she should be checked for any eye problem for the first time between 6 months to 1 year age and then at ages 3, 5 (pre-school), 10 year , 15 years and once in 5 years. He also said that a balanced and healthy diet is as important for the eyes as it is for the rest of the body.
